2027 Leadership Tour

Leadership Under Load is going on the road.

A national conversation about what happens when too much responsibility, decision-making and organisational dependency sits with too few people — and what organisations and communities can do about it.

Throughout 2027, Ultimate Marks will travel through Australian regions engaging with chambers of commerce, councils, communities, businesses, schools and leadership networks.

Regional visits can combine public or network conversations with paid briefings, school engagements, Leadership Load Diagnostics, organisational reviews and advisory work.

The route is being shaped now.

An expression of interest does not commit you to an engagement.

Why go regional?

Leadership pressure is structural. But it is also local.

The organisations that hold communities together often depend heavily on a small number of experienced, trusted and committed people.

That may be an owner who still approves everything, a council executive carrying relationships and context that have never transferred, a principal or deputy who has become the point of escalation for almost every difficult issue, or a community leader holding together coordination that nobody formally owns.

These people are valuable. The risk begins when the organisation cannot function normally without them.

The 2027 Leadership Tour is designed to bring that conversation into the places where it is happening.

Who should be involved?

Different organisations. A shared structural question.

The Tour is intentionally broad because concentrated responsibility and dependency show up differently across different parts of a community.

A regional visit

A Tour stop does not need to be one event.

One region may create several useful conversations across several days. One organisation does not need to fund an entire regional visit.

Chamber breakfast Council or executive conversation School leadership engagement Paid organisational work Community leadership discussion Podcast, media or research conversation Open Leadership Under Load session

A strong regional cluster can make it worthwhile to slow down, stay longer and do more meaningful work.

2027 route planning

Where should the Tour spend time?

The itinerary is deliberately not being locked too early. Expressions of interest, local convening capacity and confirmed engagements will help determine sequencing, timing and how long Ultimate Marks spends in each region.

Starting point

Canberra

The Tour begins from Canberra, with existing work across leadership, education, government and organisational contexts.

Early regional anchor

South Coast NSW

Bega Valley, Tathra, Eden and the wider Far South Coast are part of the early Tour concept. Explore South Coast NSW →

Early-2027 opportunity

Central Coast NSW & coastal NSW

Current planning includes a northbound coastal sequence with regional interest helping determine where the Tour slows down.

Northbound route forming

Queensland

Potential clusters include South East Queensland, Wide Bay / Fraser Coast, Central Queensland / Capricorn Coast, Mackay / Whitsundays, North Queensland and Far North Queensland.

Southern route forming

Victoria · Tasmania · South Australia

Southern opportunities remain part of the Tour concept, with regional timing to be shaped around useful conversations and confirmed work.

Later regional leg

Central West NSW

Bathurst, Orange and the wider Central West are expected to form part of a later regional sequence. Explore Central West NSW →

Do not see your region listed?

These are the regions currently informing early planning, not the limits of the 2027 Tour. Interest from anywhere in Australia can help shape the route.

Express Interest From Your Region →
These are planning regions, not a fixed itinerary.

Confirmed engagements, regional partnerships and clusters of interest will determine the sequence, dates and where the Tour stays long enough to do meaningful work.

Help Shape the Route

Two ways to get involved

Regional interest and commercial work are different conversations.

Help bring the Tour to your region

Express interest in a regional visit

For chambers, councils, communities, businesses, schools and networks that believe their region should be part of the Tour.

This helps shape the route. It is not a booking or a paid commitment.

Express Regional Interest

Have something specific in mind?

Discuss an engagement during the Tour

If you already want to discuss a briefing, event, organisational engagement, school visit or partnership, you do not need to complete the general Tour EOI first.

You do not need to wait for your region to be confirmed. A confirmed engagement can help shape the route.

Discuss an Engagement

Listening along the way

The Tour is also an opportunity to hear what different communities are carrying.

Ultimate Marks examines Leadership Load: the structural pressure created when decisions, responsibility, escalation, context or dependency repeatedly concentrate around too few people.

Regional conversations may inform field observations, interviews, Leadership Under Load content and future research questions. Where themes or research are published, Ultimate Marks will distinguish clearly between field observations, organisational work and structured research.
